Screen-Shot-2015-04-01-at-9.29.48-PMToday’s beauty diary post is all about nude lip colors. In the beauty and the fashion world, there is this generally accepted idea of what a “nude” color should look like. Usually, its something light, something beige, and something that looks terrible thats on me.

It’s only recently that brands are have started to challenge that idea, (some examples include L’oreal’s new nude lipsticks, Louboutin’s Les Nude collection, and Nubian Skin‘s lingerie line) and rightly so. A nude anything should depend on what your color your skin tone is, and that can amount to countless variations.

It’s mind-blowing that this is the way we still think about the color “nude” today. I can’t tell you how frustrating it has been, trying to understand people who were trying to teach me how to make a nude lip color “work” for my skin tone. The conversation should really revolve around: how to find the right nude lip colors for you, instead.

In the video below, I talk a little bit more about that and show you guys how I achieve one of my nude looks: the ever so trendy “dusty rose” look that has been notoriously characterized by MAC’s “Whirl” lip liner and Kat Von D’s “Lolita” matte lipstick. I hope you guys enjoy it!
