Obviously, I couldn’t let the day go by with out wishing my babe Robyn Fenty a happy 26th birthday! Seeing as she is my fashion icon and #1 inspiration, I decided to dedicate this post to her and some of my fave Rihanna looks from Februarih 2013 until now.
When I look at Rihanna I see a girl young woman who does whatever the f*ck she wants to do. Period. And at her age, with the power & and klout she has, after everything she has been through, she is more than allowed. My love for Rihanna probably stems from the fact that I have always been somewhat of a rule follower. I always tend to follow directions, follow the rules, do what is “right”, and let others have their way. But as I grow older and wiser I realize more & more that what the world says is “right” or correct is not always what is best for me. It’s ok to do whatever I want to do. The beauty of living in America is there is not only one path to success..there are about a billion different ways a person can “make it in America” along with a billion different definitions of what making actually means. And as I work to construct my definition, I look to someone like RIhanna, gorgeous, hard-working, talented, just killing the game in every sort of way and I’m in awe. You can say what you want about Rihanna but you can’t tell me she doesn’t work hard. And in a world where gimmicks and reality shows rule, I respect the fact that she has taken the reigns of her own image..and if you listen to her music, if you watch her in an interview, if you look at her music videos, if you see her just chillin and hanging out with her friends..you know who Rihanna is…you connect with her. And despite being one of the most amazing people in the world she still goes through the same shit we all go through, she is still human, and I think that’s what makes her special, that is what makes her accessible to so many diff people and why people love her.
Anyways, I’m off my pulpit. Lets get started (these are in no particular order).
Warning: Picture Heavy!
Some of you may be wondering why I included this look in here. I think it just speaks to how effortless Rihanna’s style is. She can wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants with new balances and still swag it out.
Ah the infamous doobie look. Personally, I thought she wore the look well. And I loved the Balmain coat in the editorial look but I love the way she was able to dress it down here as well, almost even more. Genius. The white crop is super cute as well.
Can I just say how much I loooveee this Tom Ford leather fringe coat! It is to die for! It brings the whole look together for her usual vibe of effortlessly chic.
Seen here in Giorgio Baldi Stella McCartney Pink Blazer And Manolo Blahnik Chaos Sandals
It just looks like a breath of fresh air. From the pixie cut, to the minimal makeup to neutral colored blazer to the simple black Manolos. Just mmm, great. Minimal, classic look.
Seen here in a Givenchy Men’s Spring 2014 Look
I personally love wearing mens wear. I like dressing down a super girly look with something tom boyish like boots or sneakers or dressing up baggy jeans or big tee shirts with heels and jewelry. Rihanna does just that here and all the while, wearing the same print head to toe like the bawse she is. Mel is looking extra yummy here as well.
Seen here in a Gareth Pugh Suspender Skirt And Balenciaga Arena High Trainers
Here she is again mixing the hard and the soft. Love how she can rock a leather skirt with trainers and a beanie and still look fab. I also love that body chain.
Seen here in a Birmingham Adam Selman White Mesh Top, Shorts, And Balenciaga Arena Sneakers
That gray hair! I will admit, not one of my have hair styles but she still rocked it. Love the all white mesh.
Seen here in KTZ Spring 2013 White Lace Look
I can always go for an all white look and the lace detail is super sexy. Yummm!
Seen here in an all white ensemble and Chanel accessories.
Lookin like the coolest girl in school. Again, love the creepers.
Seen here in a Azzedine Alaïa Fall 2012 Burgundy Jumpsuit, Azzedine Alaïa Black Suede Circle Sandals, And Python Clutch
Who doesn’t love a girl in a catsuit? Enough said.
Seen here in a sequin blouse, Stella McCartney purse, Manolo Blahnik sandals, and Acne jeans.
I cannot stress this enough, this girl can mix hard and soft like no other! Who else can dress down a sequin top with a matching purse and sandals and still look this awesome?
Seen here in an Adam Selman White Cropped Top And Wrap Skirt
This look is the perfect mix of Hollywood glamour and Rihanna’s personal style. It’s a very stunning look but at the same time young and fresh, and true to Rih.
Rih does love denim on denim. Not everyone can do it this well and definitely not as often. Great day look!
Seen here in a Mary Katrantzou Butterfly Print Top, Siwy Camilla Cut Off Shorts, And Tom Ford Spring 2013 Beige Strappy Gladiator Sandal Boots
Those gladiator boots!! Her shoe choice always complements her skin tone and her outfit. Even though the boots are super detailed, the nude color softens it up and gives the fit just the right amount of pop.
Seen here in a River Island Grey Knot Front Cropped Cami Top, Grey Knot Front Skirt, And Christian Louboutin Nude Sex Patent Leather Pumps
Again, effortlessly chic, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s rocking her own clothing line.
Seen here in a Chanel Orange Tweed Skirt Suit And Manolo Blahnik Pumps
I love a girl that knows how to turn up but also knows how to keep it classy. Rihanna manages to pull off this suit while still looking cute and not looking frumpy. She has her grown woman on, clap clap bravo.
Seen here in a red Alaïa gown.
And last but certainly not least, Rih looks breathtaking in the look. We know she can do sexy, she can do fresh, she can do fashion forward , she can do chic , but boy can she do GLAM.
And thats all I have. Hope you love some of these looks as much as I do. Happy birthday Rihanna! Turn all the way up!
