I had an old boss once tell me to “Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” At the time, I thought it was a cute cliche at best, that probably had truth to it. But, I wasn’t ready to give up the casual work wardrobe that my career in the Silicon Valley afforded me.

That was then.

This is now.

I’m not going to lie, 2016 hasn’t started off in the best possible way for me. (Forever transparent about the struggle, documenting the hustle.) However, it has also helped me see life in a way I haven’t been able to for a long time.

Ever since my big move to New York, life has been kind of a whirlwind of spontaneous, new experiences, but I can finally, FINALLY I can say that I am beginning to make some sense of it all.

The 2016 Ofunneamaka has clear cut goals and objectives, which to be honest, I probably haven’t had since I was aspiring for 100m hurdle times in undergrad. And so although, a lot of my future is still up in the air, I have to confess that its such a relief to feel like you are working towards something. With my Cocoa Swatches brand expanding every day, and my Masters in Communication Practice degree under my belt, there’s no telling what I will be able to accomplish next.

So, I’ve official decided, 2016 will be the year of the BOSS, by force. (cue the finger nail emoji) My wardrobe will exude Boss Chic in the best way possible.
