When I first caught on to this notion of the “carefree black girl,” I immediately latched on it. Like woah, other black women who refuse to conform to ridiculous societal rules influenced by patriarchy and imperialism, I’m all the way here for it!

Beasts of the southern wild
I wore this on my last full day in NOLA. I’m sure I’ve said this before but I really love remixing vintage African pieces with different styles to re-create more modern looks. These shorts were originally men’s shorts that my mother would sell in the early 90s. I’ve got em in white too. I like how comfy and cute they are, especially with the kente detail.

I love love love the monochrome trend and think its perfect for spring! (even though, admitedlly, the weather wasn’t very “spring-like” when these were taken on our third day in NOLA)
