I want to start recognizing some of the fashion bloggers, beauty bloggers, and women I admire on the blog and share their work with you all. So, every wednesday, I’ll be posting a new “Woman Crush”. I want to kick things off with Ashleigh of The Daileigh !
One of the trends that I am absolutely loving this spring are neutrals! Neutrals are hot and even though at first glance they may seem boring, they create such clean looks and are actually fun to play with. Here’s some inspiration for you all trying to create outfits with neutral pieces.
Obviously, I couldn’t let the day go by with out wishing my babe Robyn Fenty a happy 26th birthday! Seeing as she is my fashion icon and #1 inspiration, I decided to dedicate this post to her and some of my fave Rihanna looks from Februarih 2013 until now.
Before this month ends, I wanted to get a post in about where/how I want my “look” to evolve in 2014.
Unfortunately, we are not all Beyonce. We don’t just “wake up like dis” (and neither does she for that matter, but i’ll leave that for the Beyhive to debate ). However, that does NOT mean we can’t all be “flawless”.
Often times I save the days when I “dress up” for a special occasion, or when I feel like I am going somewhere than warrants a cute outfit, but from now on I’m going to think a bit differently. I’m gonna challenge myself to get all dolled up
everyday, well lets be real not every single day….there are just some days where your trip to the grocery store requires nothing more than comfy sweats and a tee. But, you get the picture, more often than not. I can think of at least four idioms, cliches, phrases to support this new rhetoric.
Happy New Year to you all! Although we are literally only 2 days into the new year, I already feel like 2014 is going to be amazing! I am really excited to see what this year has in store.
Here are a few things I hope to do better this year.
Take chances – It’s so hard to get out of your comfort zone and do something different from your normal day to day routine, but taking a chance and doing something crazy can prove to have amazing results. You will probably have a blast doing it and even if you don’t, you will learn something new about yourself.
Get healthy – I will be the first to say, I LOVE food! Like, seriously. I always say I don’t eat to live, I live to eat. And unfortunately the healthy stuff doesn’t really tickle my fancy (I live for Umami Burger, Philz Coffee, and Nestle Chocolate Chip Cookies). But the earlier you start thinking about your health, the better. As a former track and field athlete, I know how diet and exercise can easily help improve your body and your mood. Little things like drinking more water, cutting out the 2am trips to McDonalds, and working out a couple times a week can easily get you on track to a healthy lifestyle.
Baby Steps, Baby Steps.
Travel – The older I get, the more my travel bug starts to itch. I want to go everywhere! Whether it’s discovering new cities in the US or traveling abroad, I cannot wait to see all that this world has to offer. Even if its just discovering new restaurants in your hometown or a new place to take photos or a new thrift shop to frequent, that feeling of a novel discovery can make your day, or even your entire year.
Make plans/goals & follow through with them – I’m all for a spontaneous adventure, but making plans and writing out goals gives our minds a blueprint that we can use to guide ourselves toward the right direction. The thought process alone helps you brainstorm what you want to accomplish. It can be for tomorrow or for 5 years from now. Simply taking that first step to write it down starts the process.
Carpe Diem – Seize the Day! We only have one life to live so we MUST make the most of it. Do not wait for anyone else to do what you wanna do. Like Nike, just do it! And have faith. Having faith in yourself and having faith in God can help you move mountains.
First Sunset of the Year- lets get into it!
Just a few things I’m vibin with this month.
1. This month’s issue of Glamour
. Not only is Glamour one of my fave magazines but my babe is on the cover!
3. Benefit’s They’re Real!
mascara- I am absolutely obsesssed with this mascara. My only qualm is that I wish it came in darker kohl color. Otherwise love!
4. Elf Small Stipple Brush
– I have been wanting to try a stipple brush and this was the perfect starter..and super cheap! It was only like $3!
5. COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
in True Ebony. I actually use this as a blush on its own, a base for my powder blushes annnnnnd as a tool to contour my face. Its a little darker than my skin tone and is the perfect tool to use when I want to create a sharper, more drastic contour.
INGLOT Pure Pigment Eye Shadow
– If you are looking for eye shadows, I would def recommend Inglot. Their eye shadows are super pigmented, a great price, and come in almost every color. I really love this shimmery color…looks great on a night out.
Last but not least…7. Riri Hearts MAC
: Talk that Talk matte lipstick- Now I’ve said it before and now I will say it again, I looveee a matte lip and this color is perfect for fall. Love it!
