Favorite Things: October Edition
Just a few things I’m vibin with this month.
1. This month’s issue of Glamour. Not only is Glamour one of my fave magazines but my babe is on the cover!
2. L’oreal’s Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in Carbon Black: My favorite eyeliner of all time, no pot or liquid liner that I’ve tried can beat it. (mentioned previously here )
3. Benefit’s They’re Real! mascara- I am absolutely obsesssed with this mascara. My only qualm is that I wish it came in darker kohl color. Otherwise love!
4. Elf Small Stipple Brush– I have been wanting to try a stipple brush and this was the perfect starter..and super cheap! It was only like $3!
5. COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation in True Ebony. I actually use this as a blush on its own, a base for my powder blushes annnnnnd as a tool to contour my face. Its a little darker than my skin tone and is the perfect tool to use when I want to create a sharper, more drastic contour.
INGLOT Pure Pigment Eye Shadow – If you are looking for eye shadows, I would def recommend Inglot. Their eye shadows are super pigmented, a great price, and come in almost every color. I really love this shimmery color…looks great on a night out.
Last but not least…7. Riri Hearts MAC: Talk that Talk matte lipstick- Now I’ve said it before and now I will say it again, I looveee a matte lip and this color is perfect for fall. Love it!

Beauty Diaries- MAC Retro Matte Collection: Review
If you saw my previous post about MAC’s new Retro Matte collection, then you know how juiced I was to try these lipsticks out. So juiced that I bought two of the colors online, the first day they were released.
I decided to try Flat Out Fabulous, described as a bright, plum color and Fixed on Drama, described as a rich wine color. I have similar colors in non-matte versions so I knew the colors would complement my skin tone.
Unfortunately as I opened up the first lipstick, Fixed on Drama, and tried out the color on my lips, I noticed that this color lacked a certain punch I was expecting from a matte lip.
There were no oohs or ahhs. The texture was definitely matte but the color on me was lackluster. I took this color lipstick off and tried on Flat Out Fabulous….
and I had the same feeling. The color just wasn’t doing much for me. Although this has made me a little less excited about this collection, I am determined to make these lip colors work for me.
In the meantime, I will be taking a trip to the MAC store to try on the rest of the collection in person to see if I can find any other winners. (I’m most excited to try All Fired Up, described as a bright fuchsia color)

MAC Retro Matte Collection for Fall 2013
From the moment I tried on MAC’s Ruby Woo red lipstick, I immediately knew matte lipstick was it for me. The texture and look of a matte lip just makes the color pop and look absolutely perfect on my skin. I have become seriously obsessed with all things matte since then…lips, nails, even cars.
(Once you go matte, you never go back.)
This is why I was literally ecstatic to learn that MAC would be coming out with an entire collection of matte lipsticks of the fall!

Beauty Diaries- Highlight and Contouring for Darker Skin Tones
It really grinds my gears when I try to ask people at a makeup counter or a makeup artist how to contour my face and they write me off with a one step solution, or dont really have a solution at all…like overloading on highlighter or not knowing what kinds of blush to use to create the most contrast for darker skin.
Well after a lot of experimentation I have come up with a fool proof routine that I use when I want to highlight and contour my face. I normally like a lot on contrast and this method provides a great balance of light and dark.
(for my updated routine click here)
So here you go: a Highlight & Contour Tutorial for Darker Skin Tones
Heres what I used in this tutorial:
1. Blending Sponge
2. MAC Blush in Raizin
3. Sonia Kashuk Multi- Purpose Brush
4. Elf Angled Foundation Brush
5. Elf Blush Brush
6. Elf Concealer Brush
7. MAC Foundation Brush (190SE)
8. MAC Cream Color Base in Hush
9. Makeup Forever Camouflage Cream Palette- Number 4
Step 1: Take the lightest color in the Makeup Forever Cream Palette and apply it as a highlighter from under your eye to your cheek bone.
Step 2: Apply your foundation on top to create a natural looking highlight.
Step 3: Take the darkest color from the Makeup Forever palette and apply with the angled foundation brush under your cheek bone, parallel to your jaw line and blend with blending sponge.
Step 4: Apply MAC Raizin Blush on top of your dark cream base to create an even greater contour. Blend as needed.
Step 5: Apply a thin line of light cream base from the makeup forever palette under your dark color
& blend.
For the very last step, use a multi purpose brush, or just your finger to lightly blend in the MAC Hush Cream Base on top of your highlight area for a slight sheen.
And voila! A nicely contoured face.
P.S. For a little extra contouring I apply a line of light colored Makeup Forever creme base in the middle of my nose and then use a darker color on the outsides and blend.
Finished Look
What do you guys use to highlight & contour your face?
Hope this post could help you out or give you some tips and ideas! =]

Rih-Rih Woo
I’m super excited to announce that my girl, Rihanna, is collaborating with MAC Cosmetics to launch not one, not two, not three, but FOUR different collections throughout Summer 2013!
“Each collection will be built around the capsule’s signature lip color, ‘RiRi Woo,’ a play on the brand’s iconic ‘Ruby Woo’ shade. ‘RiRi Woo’ will launch first, online and at Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds Tour’ performances at Barclays Center on the 4th and 5th of May. The remaining three color collections will follow, with a summer range to be sold online, as well as fall and holiday collections which will be available in stores.”
