2nd day of NYFW

These shots were taken on the second day of NYFW and our last day in NY =[

So lucky to meet another one of my fave fashion bloggers Christina Caradona of TropRogue! She was gracias enough to stop and chat for a bit. She was super cool and funny.
I was also lucky enough to meet the undeniably gorgeous Boris Kodjoe….talk about star struck! Nicole is one lucky lady.

It felt only right to try out the infamous shake shack, but I have to say….it was good but there are much better burger joints in SF. I’m somewhat of a burger snob, what can I say.
My coffee shake was bomb dot com though!
Our NY luck continued to pull through to the very last minute we were in NY and got us into a show! My bestie and I were able to watch some of the looks from the Academy of Art come down the runway.

The Lincoln Center really does look beautiful at night.

Goodbye NY, until next time.

1st Day of NYFW

These were taken on the first day of fashion week. I was fortunate enough to get a sewing machine for my birthday (thanks parents!) so I really wanted to push myself to learn how to make something for fashion week. The finished product is this ankara skirt I am wearing.

I was so excited to meet one of my absolute favorite fashion bloggers Kristina Bazan of KAYTURE! She was super nice and sweet and even stopped to snap a photo with me!

As a rookie blogger, I love going to fashion week simply for the experience. While getting invited into shows is ultimately the goal, just being in the presence of so many different styles, trends, and down right craziness gives me life! It makes my heart skip a beat. It makes me swoon.
But…..As our NY luck would have it, we were able to make it into the Lincoln Center, which was a treat in and of itself.
After having some fun in the Lincoln Center, we left and took the subway over to Harlem to visit little Africa and look for some African fabric.

A gorgeous Harlem sunset
After shopping we headed back to soho to meet up with my cousin for dinner, drinks, & dessert. Much needed after being out allllllll day.
Some dope street art

A cute little poster in the restaurant.
All in all, it was a good awesome day!
P.S. I got a lot of questions about my lipstick color, so I thought I’d let you guys know what I was wearing. I used MAC’s Magenta lip liner as a lipstick and lightly went over it with MAC Rebel lipstick.

Beauty Diaries- MAC Retro Matte Collection: Review

If you saw my previous post about MAC’s new Retro Matte collection, then you know how juiced I was to try these lipsticks out. So juiced that I bought two of the colors online, the first day they were released.

I decided to try Flat Out Fabulous, described as a bright, plum color and Fixed on Drama, described as a rich wine color. I have similar colors in non-matte versions so I knew the colors would complement my skin tone.

Unfortunately as I opened up the first lipstick, Fixed on Drama, and tried out the color on my lips, I noticed that this color lacked a certain punch I was expecting from a matte lip.

There were no oohs or ahhs. The texture was definitely matte but the color on me was lackluster. I took this color lipstick off and tried on Flat Out Fabulous….

and I had the same feeling. The color just wasn’t doing much for me. Although this has made me a little less excited about this collection, I am determined to make these lip colors work for me.

In the meantime, I will be taking a trip to the MAC store to try on the rest of the collection in person to see if I can find any other winners. (I’m most excited to try All Fired Up, described as a bright fuchsia color)
