I really tried NOT to write this post, like I really tried. I tried to keep my Rihanna stan-ness in check on my Twitter and Instagram feeds but every time I read a disrespectful, negative comment about Rihanna it just made my skin crawl and I felt compelled in some way to address them, and to defend her. Because you see, for me, it’s not just about the fact that she wore a “proactive” dress to an award show, its about her choice to wear that dress to an award show and how the world, consequently has perceived her.
Let me back track for a bit, and give you some context. If you weren’t aware, Rihanna just received a CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) award for being Fashion Icon of the year. Past winners of this award include Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker. The CFDA describes the event as an “ event that recognizes the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts, with awards being given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessories as well as extraordinary accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement.” So basically, Rihanna was recognized by a group of her fashion peers (a network comprised of top fashion retailers, journalists, stylists, influencers and the 450+ member designers of the CFDA.) for being a badass in the fashion world.
And, she arrived at the CFDA awards wearing this.
Obviously, I couldn’t let the day go by with out wishing my babe Robyn Fenty a happy 26th birthday! Seeing as she is my fashion icon and #1 inspiration, I decided to dedicate this post to her and some of my fave Rihanna looks from Februarih 2013 until now.
The navy wasted absolutely NO time buying Rihanna’s last MAC holiday collection. I tried to purchase the lipsticks online and they were sold out in like 5 minutes! Luckily I was able to hit the mall when it opened and grabbed all three lipsticks, Pleasure Bomb, Bad Girl RiRi, and the infamous RiRi Woo. (review of RiRi Woo here

2. Pleasure Bomb
This bright matte fuchsia color is a bit brighter than I normally go but its super pretty and goes on quite smoothly.
Top: Bad Girl RiRi
This was also lighter than I normally go but will probably look great when glammed up. It also went on smoothly.
I think both lip sticks are a score. I can’t wait to pair them with different lip liners and makeup looks to see how I like to wear them best.
I tried out MAC Nightmoth lip liner with Pleasure Bomb on top for my first experiment.
Were any of you able to score this last RiRi Hearts Mac collection? What did you guys think?
My second day on my NY vacay was a pure tourist-y day. We walked around Washington Square Park, shopped in Chinatown and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Later on we had dinner in Little Italy. I love how cute and quaint this little area of NY is.
Later that night….
We were fortunate enough to meet Rihanna’s bestie Melissa Forde!!(Ok so maybe this wasn’t exactly a coincidence…… ;] ) Love of my life, apple of my eye. She was super sweeet!
Day 2 was just as amazing as the 1st. I love NY!
